'Ben' at Academy Awards

Ben was the first of 19 number-one pop hits for Jackson in the United States and his first number-one as a solo artist. It won a Golden Globe for Best Song and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1973. Jackson performed the song in front of a live audience at the ceremony.

The Jacksons TV Show



The Jacksons was a CBS network TV variety show featuring the Jackson siblings except for Jermaine. Jermaine was signed to Motown while the Jackson group was signed to the CBS record label. It was the first variety show where the entire cast were siblings. As with the Jackson 5 regular performances, Michael Jackson was the lead performer in musical and dance performances.

The thirty-minute Wednesday evening show began as a summer 1976 show and it continued into the 1976�1977 season, finishing on March 9, 1977 after running for 12 episodes

American Bandstand

American Bandstand was a television show that aired in various versions from 1952 to 1989, hosted from 1957 until its final season by D. Clark.

"Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" was released December 9, 1978, in the CBS/Epic Records album Destiny. Jacksons later performed this during the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden in September 2001, and it was the last song performed live by the Jacksons.

Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever

Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever was a television special produced by Suzanne de Passe for Motown Records, to commemorate Motown's twenty-fifth year of existence. It was recorded on March 25th 1983.

Michael reunited with his brothers Jackie, Marlon, Jermaine, & Tito on stage for the first time in eight years for a medley of their greatest hits, "I Want You Back," "The Love You Save," "Never Can Say Goodbye," and "I'll Be There." Brother Randy, who was not a part of the original Jackson 5, but was a part of the later group The Jacksons (minus Jermaine), also joined the group for the medley.

After the other members of the Jackson 5 left the stage, Michael transitioned dramatically into his own solo spot. Widely hailed as Michael's breakthrough performance as a solo artist, he performed "Billie Jean", which at the time was in the middle of a seven-week run atop the Billboard Hot 100 music charts. Wearing a distinctive sequined glove, he debuted his signature dance move, the moonwalk. His performance during the event was seen by 47 million viewers. Although many may have seen this video, his introduction to Billie Jean is not included in the Thriller 25th anniversary DVD. The following video shows the entire performance.

Super Bowl Performance 1993

One of Jackson's most acclaimed performances came during the halftime show at Super Bowl XXVII. As the performances began, Jackson was catapulted onto the stage as fireworks went off behind him. As he landed on the canvas, he maintained a motionless "clenched fist, standing statue stance", dressed in a gold and black military outfit and sunglasses; he remained completely motionless for several minutes while the crowd cheered. He then slowly removed his sunglasses, threw them away and began to sing and dance. His routine included four songs: "Jam", "Billie Jean", "Black or White" and "Heal the World". It was the first Super Bowl where the audience figures increased during the half-time show, and was viewed by 135 million Americans alone; Jackson's Dangerous album rose 90 places up the album chart

30th Anniversary Celebration

In late November 2001, the CBS television network aired a two-hour special in honor of Michael Jackson's thirtieth year as a solo entertainer (his first solo single, "Got to Be There", was recorded in 1971). The show was edited from footage of two separate concerts Michael had orchestrated in New York City's Madison Square Garden on September 7 and September 10 of 2001. The shows sold out in five hours. Ticket prices were pop's most expensive ever; the best seats cost $5,000 and included a dinner with Michael Jackson and a signed poster. Jackson reportedly earned $7.5 million for each of the two concerts, which is over $150,000 per minute. The show ranked first in black viewers over the decade ending 2008.

This concert was later aired after Michael's death in High Definition (In Japan and in Australia) The following clips are from a Japanese HD channel.

United We Stand: What More Can I Give

What More Can I Give" (also "Todo Para Ti" in Spanish) was written by Michael Jackson and recorded by a supergroup of singers following the September 11 attacks in 2001. It was performed live at the 9/11 benefit concert 'United We Stand: What More Can I Give'. Held at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C. on October 21, 2001, the eight-hour concert featured numerous artists performing to a sell-out audience of 54,000 people. Jackson performed his songs "We Are the World" and "Man in the Mirror", before he and other singers such as Rod Stewart, Al Green, James Brown, Sean Combs and Pink closed the show with "What More Can I Give".

World Music Awards

On 15th November 2006 at the World Music Awards in London, Michael Jackson gave his final public performance, when he performed We Are The World with a choir of 50 children to an audience of 5,000.

Beyonce presented the King of Pop with the Diamond Award - an award given to artists who have sold over 100 million albums. The event also marked the 25th anniversary of Michael's landmark album, Thriller.
